"We meet ourselves time and time again in a thousand different disguises on the path of life." -Carl Jung
Background and Experience
With over 25 years of experience treating adults, teens, children, and families in the counseling office, outpatient counseling program, medical and hospital facility, residential treatment program, and school setting. I am experienced with assisting in most challenges one may be facing. Of course, everyone's struggle is their own. My current specialized focus of care is with assisting those with chronic pain, chronic health conditions, physical and emotional trauma, and posttraumatic stress conditions.
Before making Austin my home for the past 15 years, I have lived and worked in Illinois, Alabama, the US Virgin Islands, Florida, and then Hawaii for a number of years. I love people. And, I embrace and appreciate all cultural and ethnic backgrounds, religious and spiritual belief systems, and lifestyle orientations.
I have developed an integrative model of care for treating chronic pain and chronic health conditions based in neuroscience and the body’s inherent ability to heal. I teach and train other therapists on how to use these methods through providing multi-day trainings as well as speaking at conferences, summits and other professional engagements. It is one of my missions to help people with these conditions to end their immense suffering, to be able to heal to their body’s fullest ability, and to get off so many of the medications that are often doing them harm, especially the opioids.
I have created numerous programs and treatment curriculums for organizations, treatment centers, and schools for issues including Chronic Pain, Depression, Substance Abuse, Parenting, and ADHD.
I served on Kaiser Permanente's National Guideline Development Team to develop evidence-based guidelines in treating children with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder.
While working at Queen’s Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii, which has been recognized by US News and World Report as Best Hospital in Hawaii, I was awarded Clinical Personnel of the Year.
Upon moving to Austin from Hawaii in 2006, I immediately fell in love with the city and the people here. Austinites embody to me what is the Aloha Spirit of Hawaii where there is true warmth and concern for others, love for nature and the land, and the willingness to become an active member of this great community.
